The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday (July 14, 2026) arrested a municipal assistant engineer posted in Peddapally district for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹2,000 from a contractor for processing and forwarding the final bill related to an urban development project.
According to the ACB, the accused officer, 33-year-old Kallepalli Sathish Kumar, serving as an assistant engineer in the Peddapally municipal office, was detained by the ACB Karimnagar unit at his residence after he demanded and accepted a bribe from the complainant.
The agency said the money was requested for an official favor — processing and handing over the final contractor’s bill for the construction of a Hindu cemetery in Tenuguwada and a cemetery on Kunaram Road in Peddapally town. The work, carried out under Package IX of the Peddapally municipality, was valued at ₹ 12.28 lakh and the bill was to be handed over to the Telangana Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TUFIDC) for approval.
The ACB recovered tainted bribes of ₹2,000 from the accused officer’s possession. During subsequent searches at his residence, officials also seized ₹32.31 crore in unaccounted cash.
The accused has been taken into custody, arrested and will be produced before a special court for SPE and ACB cases in Karimnagar. The investigation is ongoing.
