Main Minister Omar Abdullah said on Sunday (September 21, 2025) that peace is a prerequisite for the development and industry of tourism and sport that flourishes in Jammu and Kashmir.
“For development, tourism or sport … We need peace for everything. If we talk about day and night matches and if the situation is not good, who will play in the evening?” Mr. Abdullah told reporters in Srinagar.
Here he started the jersey of the real football club Kashmir.
“Peace is the basis for everything. The message of today’s program, Jersey, is also peace,” he added.
Governor Lieutenant Manoj Sinha had on Saturday (September 20, 2025) that peace was a prerequisite for developing in Jammu and Kashmir. Mr. Sinha also claimed that some of the remains of terrorism remain in the Union.
Mr. Abdullah said that he did not fall for the determination of peace with him, and claimed that “those who are responsible should fulfill their responsibility.”
The main minister said his government is focused on everything that happens in Jamm and Kashmir, although the law and order is not his domain.
“At least there is something that we cannot be responsible for, because the determination of peace is not the responsibility of my government. However, our government is focused on everything,” he said.
When upgrading sports infrastructure, Mr. Abdullah said his government with a special focus on sports activities and sports infrastructure.
“There is hardly no segment of the Assembly where our government is not formed by any sports infrastructure. Infrastructure is being built after assessing the interest of youth in each segment of the assembly,” he said.
The main minister said that his efforts to create a sports infrastructure and then hand it over to the youth to use it.
“Tournaments, race, etc. are held at the district level and below the districts. The second edition of Kashmir Marathon takes place on November 2. I want to expand the invitation to athletes from all over the country, especially those who are interested in half marathon to come to Srinagar.
Abdullah asked about the status of the National Motorway Srinagar-Jammu, which was influenced by the landslides caused by heavy rain, and said, “We were unable to make black on the section of 300 meters, which was washed away.
“We will do it after some time and then the vehicles can move freely. But from now on there are no vehicles stuck,” he said.
