The Preventive Detention (PD) Act was invoked on Sunday against a “habitual offender” allegedly involved in gang smuggling cases registered at various police stations in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
The police identified the accused as S. Venkanna of Kashiram thanda, Kesamudram mandal in Mahabubabad district.
Ganja smuggling cases are pending against him in Yellandu and Bhadrachalam police station limits and also in Rajendranagar (Hyderabad).
According to the instructions of his superiors, the PD Act was applied against him. The accused was shifted from Khammam undercarriage to Cherlapalli Central Jail on Sunday.
