Congress Party President Pawan Khera on Wednesday (April 9, 2026) knocked on the doors of the Telangana High Court seeking protection from arrest by the Assam Police in a case registered by it over his remarks on the passport status of Assam Chief Minister Hemanth Biswa Sarma.
The criminal petition filed by Mr. Khera is likely to be heard before Justice K. Sujana of the HC in a day or two. The 58-year-old politician reportedly made statements accusing the Assam Chief Minister’s wife of having three passports. The Assam Police registered a case against him based on a complaint that his remarks were defamatory.
