Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Forests and Environment K. Pawan Kalyan on Monday lauded the forest officials involved in the tiger operation for capturing the transient tiger without any loss of life.
On February 6, staff of the Rajahmundry Wildlife Division, supported by experts from the Pune-based RESQ Trust, tranquilized a tiger at Kurmapuram village in East Godavari district. The operation took place 53 days after the tiger started roaming across four states namely Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh since mid-December 2025.
In a letter of appreciation to the forest department, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said, “The manner in which the sensitive and prolonged operation was carried out, with a scientific approach, meticulous planning and flawless coordination, without any loss of life or harm to animals, reflects the high level of professionalism, leadership and commitment of the forest department.” He added that the operation was a remarkable example of effective human-wildlife conflict management.
Meanwhile, a crucial meeting involving tiger conservationists and experts from the Wildlife Institute of India to rehabilitate the sedated tiger was postponed on Tuesday. The tiger is currently under the control of an animal rescue center in Visakhapatnam.
