The Australian Captain Odi Pat Cummins was expelled from the upcoming series of limited overs against New Zealand and India after suffering lower injuries, confirmed Cricket Australia (CA) on Tuesday. Development means that Cummins will miss the highly anticipated series of Comeback Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma on the Indian side of the White Ball.
The Australian preparation for the defense of Ashes against England carried out a significant intervention after Cummins’ lower back was released. The party is scheduled to tour in New Zealand for three T20is in early October before India leaves under three ODI and five T20i. England will then arrive at the end of the year for the Marquee Ashes series.
“Cummins will not be considered the upcoming series of limited overs against India (or New Zealand) and will continue its rehabilitation plan with returning to bowling, which will be determined in the preparation of Ashes,” Ca read.
After bowling 95.1 overs in four tests in the UK and the Caribbean-three against Western India and one against South Africa during the final of the World Championship-32-year-old experienced back pain. Medical scanning revealed the “level of lumbar bone stress” that CA says “will require further management” at the beginning of the ashes. Importantly, the injury was not marked as a “fracture of stress”, but medical staff must determine whether his back will withstand the Ashes campaign, which contains five tests in seven weeks.
Cummins already missed the Champions Trophy 2025The recent series of white balls in the Caribbean and North Australia to replicate the mini-depression season that served him before the previous summer domestic tests against India.
Non -maintenance is the main problem for Australia, given that Cummins’ record in recent years. Since he took over as a captain four years ago, he missed only two injuries, while since his return in 2017, only Nathan Lyon (70) played more matches than him.
The creation of Scott Boland means that cummins on paper can be replaced in XI if all fast -mounted fitrs are fit. Steve Smith is also capable of representative when at the beginning of this year by a captain in Sri Lanka. However, the absence of an Australian first -class quick pitching would be a huge blow.
The attack by Josh Hazlewood (34), Mitchell Starc (35), Boland (36) and Nathan Lyon (who turns 38 in November) at the first Perth test would also be one of the oldest combinations that Australia had ever built.
