Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon return as Australia’s name group for the Bangladesh Tests

NEW DELHI: Cricket Australia on Tuesday named a 13-man squad for the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh, with captain Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon returning after recovering from injury. The series, which begins on August 13, will be Bangladesh’s first Test tour of Australia since 2003. Australia go into the series in excellent form. The reigning Test World Cup holders are currently top of the WTC 2025-27 rankings after winning seven of their first eight matches.Australia head coach George Bailey confirmed the returning bowlers are fully fit.“As you would expect, we won’t lock in the XI that far, but we know there is depth in this two-Test series.“I’m sure there will be (future) Tests that this (big four) group will play together. Cummins, Hazlewood and Lyon have worked extremely hard over the last few months, individually and with the (fitness) teams to come back from injury,” Bailey said.

Busy testing schedule ahead

The Bangladesh series will begin with the first Test in Darwin from August 13 to 17. The second and final Test will be played in Mackay from August 22-26.The two-match series marks the start of a busy 12-month schedule for Australia to play 20 Test matches, including demanding tours of South Africa, India and England.
