Stating that the decision to allot the Bengaluru development portfolio to Krishna Byre Gowda was taken by the party’s central leadership, Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Friday also acknowledged that he had indeed promised Ramalinga Reddy that the portfolio would be given to him.
‘Cannot be changed’
The Prime Minister also said that any decision that has been taken cannot be changed by reversing the decision of party seniors.
Reacting to Mr Reddy’s resignation after being denied the Bengaluru Development portfolio, he told reporters, “It is true that I told Mr Reddy earlier that I will hand over the portfolio to him. He is a senior minister. When Mr Reddy was given the transport portfolio earlier, my brother (DK Suresh) and I convinced him to accept it.
Mr. Shivakumar further said, “I have done my best. Party seniors have now decided to give the portfolio to Mr. Gowda. I will talk to him about it.”
Muniyappa accepts the portfolio
On the displeasure expressed by KH Muniyappa over the allocation of food and civil supplies instead of the welfare he sought, the chief minister said, “After discussion with (Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha) Rahul Gandhi, the party convinced him. Mr. Gandhi spoke to Mr. Muniyappa that the party was happy to give him.”
