The extinct Middle State farm in Melchengam, Tiruvannamei, will receive a new rental because the forest department is planning an exclusive park that will save rare native flora in part of the farm to protect the environment and strengthen local travel activities. This was announced by the Minister of Finance Tamil Nadu Thangharas and on Friday he introduced the budget at 2025-26 in the State Legislative Assembly. According to the announcement, the park will be set up on 1,000 hectare forest soil in Melchengam, which falls under Union Chengam Panchayat in the Truvannamalai district. The park appears at the price of CRS 10 RS. “At present, the Seed Farm has been used by Tamil Nadu Forest Plantation Corporation Limited (TAFCORN) to grow trees such as eucalyptus, which will withstand dry conditions for commercial purposes to generate income. The proposed park will help protect the environment and also educate youth about it, ”said S. Raghupathy, forest range officer (Chengam), said Hindu.
Forest officials were spreading to 11,500 hectares, saying that the seed farm was established by State Farms Corporation of India LTD, the Union Government, in 1972 in Melchengam to produce and supply quality seeds of various crops for farmers Tamil Nadu, neighboring countries and other necessary countries.
