As part of the efforts to motivate and restriction of older patients, an exclusive park for visitors and patients in the Geriatric Unit of the Government Faculty in Vellore was opened on Saturday. Health officials said the new park was a joint initiative of the Government Hospital, the Rotary Club of Vellore and Inner Wheel Club on the Vellore North. The park, which covers about 3,500 square feet, has native trees such as Neem, Peepal and Fruit trees. It has a tiled pedestrian track for visitors who are old people, including out-pacists in a geriatric unit, lawn, water taps, toilets, LED lights and CCTV cameras. “Only old persons, including patients, will reach the park. The equipment will be operated by at least three employees’ sisters to ensure the safety of visitors,” said Hindu Bijin Oliver John, head of Professor, Geriatrics Unit, GMCH (Vellore). Geriatric Unit, which was founded in 2017, is a 20-Li-Li-Li-Li-loser facility in the hospital. Around the patients, on average, out-paciets are treated every day. The unit leads Mr. John with five nurses, four multi -purpose employees and a physiotherapist. It also has a separate pharmacy, counter ODD and laboratory. Most cases are related to the assessment of the risk of falling. Health officials said the need for the park was felt because most patients in the unit do not have a great physical movement as a result of the space crisis. The park will help them become active, spend time in their free time and communicate with other visitors. To ensure their safety, Buffalo grass was planted in the park because this type of grass provides users many pillows. Such grass has a greater durability and can grow in dry areas with less water intake.
Six benches were established in the park for the arrangement of sitting. Water taps, toilets and ramps were also provided in the new facility. With the exception of Sunday, the park will be open on this occasion for all days within 20 hours, M. Rohini Dean, Dean, Gmch (Vellore), other doctors, employees and visitors were present.
