In a demonstration emphasizing the deteriorating state of public education infrastructure, parents and activists organized a protest before the government’s lower elementary school in the village of Station Sawalgi in the Kalaburagi district and demanded urgent provision of basic facilities to improve the quality of education.
Hanumanth SH, State Vice President of the All-India Democratic Students (AIDSO), condemned the government for avoiding its responsibility for providing free and quality education to every child, condemning the government to avoid its responsibility for providing free and quality education. “Education is not just about academic workers; it is a installation of values and care for good citizens. It is modest that the government neglects its duty,” he said.
He pointed out that Sawalgi, located in Kalaburagag Taluk, was home to a large number of everyday wage workers and migrating workers. “Most parents in the village write their children to the school of local administration due to financial restrictions. However, the school lacks clean drinking water, correct toilet facilities and electricity and regular classes are often disrupted.
Preeti Doddamani, District Vice President of Aidso, criticized the state government for not providing minimal infrastructure and adequate pedagogical staff in government schools. “While the privatization of education is promoted on the one hand, the basic education on the other hand is denied disadvantaged children,” she said, demanding immediate measures from the authorities concerned.
Vijay Kumar Jemkhandi, a blocked educational officer in Kalaburagag South Zone, promised demonstrators that the protesters would be taken would take steps to ensure quality education. He immediately promised to provide clean drinking water and electricity to school.
The key requirements submitted by the protesters included ensuring quality education, providing clean drinking water, restoration of electricity supply, construction of toilets, appointment of teachers specific to the subjects and introducing English teaching.
