
The Karnataka government has taken steps to conduct the annual SSLC and II PUC-1 examination with elaborate security measures this year in light of the question paper leak incidents on social media platforms during the preliminary examination a few days ago.
Education and Literacy Minister Madhu Bangarappa held a video conference with Deputy Commissioners (DC) of all districts, Zilla Panchayat CEOs (ZP CEO) and Superintendent of Police (SP) along with top police officials and instructed them to monitor social media platforms including WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and others.
In a press conference on Tuesday, Mr. Bangarappa said, “Accounts of those who spread information about question paper leak on social media or transact for financial gain through fake question papers will be blocked. Action will be taken as per BNS and Education Act.”
“The police department has been instructed to keep an eye on the habitual offenders involved in cases like question paper leak. This year also, steps have been taken to broadcast investigation activities from all investigation centers in the state on the web,” he added.
Meanwhile, the minister clarified that the policy of awarding grace marks will remain the same and no grace marks will be awarded.
From February 28
Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has taken steps to conduct II PUC-1 Annual Examination from February 28, 2026 to March 17 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM in 1217 examination centers.
This year, a total of 7,10,363 students are enrolled from 5,174 PU colleges across the state.
As many as 2,92,645 students are enrolled in Science stream, 2,11,174 in Commerce stream and 1,42,982 in Arts stream this year.
Enrollment record
The annual SSLC-1 exam will be held from March 18 to April 2 from 10:00 am to 1:15 pm at 2,871 examination centers across the state.
A total of 9,02,889 students from 15,941 schools appeared for the annual SSLC-1 examination this year, which is a record number of students compared to previous years.
A total of 8,12,855 freshers, 62,845 repeaters and 27,189 private candidates are registered for the exam. However, last year 8,96,447 students registered for the SSLC-1 exam.
“This time students were well prepared for SSLC and II PUC exams. Timetable, model question papers, question bank, previous year question papers along with answer keys and centum papers have been made available in the ‘Student Corner’ of the KSEAB website to prepare for the exam. Workshops and meetings are held round the clock. Parents’ meetings are also held,” said Mr. Bangarappa.
Free bus travel
He further said that students appearing for SSLC and II PUC examinations have been allowed free travel in KSRTC and BMTC buses. “Besides, steps will also be taken to provide free travel for examinees in private buses in Malnad and coastal areas,” he said.
Preliminary results data
KSEAB has announced the preliminary result dates for SSLC and II PUC exam-1 for the first time. According to the schedule, II PUC results are likely to be announced on April 7 and SSLC on April 24.
KSEAB also announced the schedule for annual exam-2. Annual Exam-2 for II PUC will be held from 25th April to 9th May and SSLC from 18th May to 25th May.
