Indian Captain T20i, Suryakumar Yadav, has made his father’s ceremony to retire a truly unforgettable opportunity, mixing humor, affection and nostalgia in a speech that touched the hearts of many. He shared the poignant anecdotes and playful jokes, amused a large assembly that came in honor of Ashoka Kumar Yadava, who left after an important career as a scientist in the Atomo Research Center Bhabha (Barc).
Suryakumar, dressed in a formal shirt and pants, looked visibly moving stunning shows of respect and love for his father. Despite his demanding iPL 2025 commitments, the Mumbai Indians star ensured that he was present in his family’s life for this important day.
In his uniquely funny Suryakumar style, he offered his father’s best wishes and on behalf of the whole family and sister touched a moving promise. With a smile, he suggested that Ashok Yadav may not have been missing too much, and assured him that his “second shifts” at home would be even sweeter.
The short video of Suryakumar’s speech soon became viral on social media and captured widespread admiration. On Thursday, April 29, he also shared a sincere remark and farewell photo and paid tribute to his father’s remarkable journey.
“They played several beautiful videos on the screen. I didn’t even know he could sing so well! I never saw him sing. But clearly, when my sister and I weren’t around, he had to sing some beautiful songs for my mother,” he said.
“Now you have to entertain your mother all the time,” he added with a smile.
“It is said that every beautiful journey must end. Yours was nothing but a fairy tale. You had amazing friends and people who really took care of you. And although this chapter ends, I promise to try to make your second shifts equally magical,” he said.
You’re my Superman: Suryakumar
Suryakumar also paid tribute to the unwavering support that his father gave him during his cricket career and described Ashok Yadav as his personal Superman.
“There is always one inspirational character, like a superman that will show you how to live and learn. For me it’s my character my papa. From the very beginning he stood by me,” he said.
“I had no idea where my journey would go, but he was there at every step that my Tiffin, and dropped me to school, so I wouldn’t care, accompanied me to college to make sure I didn’t reduce the walls and disappeared,” he said.
He continued to emphasize the values he learned from his father: the importance of not bringing home pressures and handling all the kindness and equality. “No matter what happened at work, he never let it influence his behavior at home. That’s something I really admire and try to follow.”
He ended his homage by moving farewell:
“I just want to wish him the best for this new chapter. I hope he can give us all the time now. My mother, who was his pillar of strength, finally enjoys this phase with him. I just want to say one thing: AAO, let’s go home.”
In 34, Suryakumar Yadav enjoys a magnificent run in IPL 2025. The dynamic of the middle order has accumulated 640 runs in 14 matches concerning the highest sum in the IPL season, which plays a key role in the Indians’ march in Mumbai on the playoffs.
Since his debut in India in 2021, Suryakumar has been an integral part of the National Party. In 2024 he played a key role in the Indian triumph of the World Cup T20. After retirement, Rohit Sharma from the T20is and Suryakumar took over as a captain and is expected to lead India to the next world Cup T20.
