Shooting on Thursday on the campus of Florida State University sent an unknown number of people to the nearby hospital, said a spokesman for the medical center. According to reports, four people have been hospitalized so far. Students at FSU recommended to hide.
Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare accepted and treated people affected by shooting, said hospital spokeswoman Sarah Cannon.
Ambulance, fire trucks and patrol vehicles from several coercive agencies raced until noon on Thursday and campus on Thursday after the university released an active shooting warning near the Student Union.
Hundreds of students emerged from the Student Union direction. Students were glued to their phones, some visibly emotional.
Junior Joshua Sirmans, 20, was in the University’s main library when he said the alarms had begun to warn against an active shooter. Sirmans said the police accompanied him and other students from the library with their hands over their heads.
FBI officials are on the scene, the spokesman said.
Students and faculty were instructed to seek refuge and wait for more instructions.
“Lock and stay away from all doors and windows and be ready to take other protective measures,” the warning said.
