The highest courts in Panjab and Haryana were detained by life punishment by the goddess Sant Rampala, who was convicted of a violent distance with the police in 2014 in connection with the death of his followers.
A bench composed of justice Gurvinder Singh Gill and the judiciary Deepinder Singh Nalwa noted that there were some questionable problems, especially in terms of the cause of death that is murderous or not.
“Even eye witnesses who are related to the deceased did not support the case of prosecution, and rather stated that the conditions of suffocation were created due to tear gas shells,” the court reads on Tuesday 2 September, reported about the bar and the bench.
What happened in 2014?
The case in question dates back to 2014, when clashes broke out in Ashram Sant Rampal in Hisar, where the police went to arrest him.
The confrontation left four women and the child dead and at that time caused extensive outrage.
After the incident, Rampal was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2018 by a special court.
Godman and his own style later questioned the conviction in front of the High Court and claimed that he was falsely involved in the case. According to the Bar and Bench report, the court was told that Rampal had spent more than 10 years and eight months in prison.
What did the court say?
While the court granted the relief of the ramp, he took into account the age of Godman self-lighted and ordered him not to participate in churches.
“Given the fact that the applicant/petitioner is about 74 years of age and has passed a substantial period of sentence, ie 10 years, 08 months and 21 days, we consider a suitable reason for suspension of the applicant/petitioner’s sentence during the main appeal.”
