Social media has been abuzz with rumors ever since Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal called off their wedding. While the decision was apparently taken due to her father’s health issues, there were unverified claims that Palash allegedly cheated on the Indian vice-captain.
When a mysterious woman named Mary D’Costa comes into the picture, viral images of her private chats continue to circulate on social media platforms such as Twitter (now X), Instagram and Reddit.
He was now supported by Palash’s cousin Neeti Tak. She urged people not to judge Palash based on unverified posts. She reminded everyone that neither Palash nor Smriti had confirmed anything.

“Palash is going through a critical condition today, you all should not judge Palash as bad without knowing the truth,” Neeti wrote on Instagram Stories.
“Technology has overtaken people today, that’s why people should not judge Palash on the face of rumours… pray for him,” she added.
Palash Muchhal’s mother, Amita Muchhal, had earlier said that it was her son who wanted to postpone the wedding even before Smriti Mandhana did. Palash has a deep bond with Smriti’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, and their bond is even stronger than his relationship with Smriti, she said.
According to her, Palash was very emotional and cried a lot when Senior Mandhana fell ill, which suddenly worsened his health.

“When (Smriti’s father) fell ill, Palash decided, even before Smriti, that the wedding should not take place until he fully recovered,” his mother told Hindustan Times.
Palash was taken to the hospital for four hours, where doctors gave him an IV and performed an EKG and other tests. His messages are normal, but his stress level remains high, she added.
According to NDTV, Palash Muchhal was discharged from the hospital after a three-day stay. He was initially admitted to a hospital in Sangli, Maharashtra. He was later shifted to SRV Hospital in Goregaon, Mumbai.
Social networks remain unconvinced
With Palash’s cousin blaming ‘advanced technology’ and his mother talking about his relationship with Smriti’s father, it seems netizens have already formed their opinion on the ongoing controversy.
“But she didn’t post the real thing or try to clear up the rumours,” a social media user wrote about Neeti Tak’s defense of Palash.

Many of them call Smriti “God’s favorite child” who was “saved” just before her wedding. Some of them speculated the reason why Smriti Mandhana did not issue any formal statement about it.
“Smriti is too classy to talk about this obviously, but how cheap of Palak and her mother to make a statement that she is much closer to her father!” wrote one of them on Reddit.
“It’s all PR manipulation. Unfortunately for them, the truth has come out,” commented another.
Another user wrote: “Good thing she found out the day before the wedding and not the day after the wedding. God saved her.”
