Palakkad Divisional Railway Manager Madhumar Roat inaugurated the studio and media room at the divisional headquarters in Olavakode on Thursday.
The Palakkad Divisional Railway on Thursday opened a studio and media room at the divisional headquarters at Olavakode, not far from here. Palakkad became the first division in Southern Railway to launch a full-fledged digital media communication studio.
Inaugurating the studio, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Madhukar Roat said that the studio under the Public Relations department will enhance the reach and transparency of the division.
Palakkad division was adjudged the best in Southern Railway by winning the Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar during the 70th Railway Week celebrations earlier this month. West Coast Express (train number 22638) maintained at Mangaluru depot was rated as the best maintained train on Southern Railway and Palakkad Junction railway station as the best maintained station.

Mr. Roat also published Pragati, an in-house magazine published by the Public Relations department of the division. He said that Pragati was the first such magazine in Indian Railways to showcase achievements, initiatives and human stories from the field.
Mr. Roat said 80% of the work on ₹22.22 crore worth of rice in Palakkad has been completed. Once completed, it will significantly increase maintenance capacity, ensure faster turn-over of rakes and enable the division to introduce new train services from Palakkad, he said.
Kulukkallur and Melattur stations are being developed into junctions, spending ₹28.5 crore and ₹27.5 crore each. Half the work is done. “Once completed, it will significantly improve the running time of trains between Shoranur and Nilambur by reducing delays due to level crossings,” he said.
Additional Divisional Manager K. Anil Kumar, Senior Project Manager S. Jayakrishnan and Public Relations Officer B. Devadanam were present.
