The Pakistani cricket council (PCB) announced that the rest of the tenth edition of Pakistani Super League (PSL) will be moved to the United Arab Emirates. The tournament, which remains eight matches, was originally planned at the end in Pakistan.
PSL matchwhich was scheduled for May 8 in Rawalpindi, was initially overparted after the drone hit the cricket stadium Rawalpindi. The PCB said revised data and space for the remaining accessories will be confirmed at the right time.
The decision comes in the middle of the growing tension between India and Pakistan after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, 22 April, who killed 26 people – 25 Indians and one National National. In response to this, India started “Sindoor operations” and focused on nine terrorist camps across Pakistan and Pakistan Kashmir (POK), including those associated with Jaish-E-Mohammed and Lashkar-E-Taba.
9th May, Pakistan retaliatory with drones and missile attacksTogether with artillery shell, focusing on civil and military areas in Jammu and Kashmir, Pandjab and Rajasthan. India explained that her strikes were limited to terrorist infrastructure and did not focus on military facilities. In response, India activated its air defense systems, captured incoming threats and shot down several Pakistani fighter aircraft, including air warning and control system (AWACS).
One of the drones hit the civilian Jammu airport and the explosions were reported in the Rajouri district and along the Jammu-Srinagar motorway. In a significant counter-compensation at night of 7-8. May Indian forces reportedly destroyed the Chinese air system in Lahore.
Due to the deteriorating security situation, the PCB was forced to move PSL from the ground. SAE is an established alternative place for the league, after hosted the inauguration edition in 2016 and 2017, as well as parts of the later seasons due to different disturbances. There was also the main piece of the 2021 season in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This shift could affect the wider schedule of Pakistan cricket. Bangladesh is preparing for a tour of Pakistan for a series of five T20i matches from May 25 in Faisalabad. With the PSL finals originally scheduled for 18th May, all delays could compress the preparation time or disrupt the logistics of the series.
