
Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) president Tariq Bugti has resigned from his post after the hotel payment fiasco marred the national team’s tour of Australia. during which the team was reportedly left in Sydney for several hours and forced to perform daily chores while competing in the professional hockey league.
However, Bugti submitted his resignation to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif after he imposed a two-year ban on captain Ammad Shakeel Butt, who criticized the PHF for alleged negligence during the tour.
Confirming the development on Thursday, February 19, Bugti called on both the Prime Minister and Field Marshal Asim Munir to conduct a full investigation into the incident that took place in Australia.
“I have sent my resignation letter to the Prime Minister but I call upon him and Field Marshal Asim Munir to conduct an impartial investigation into the entire incident that took place in Australia during the FIH Pro League,” Bugti said.
