Pakistan ended their Women’s World Cup campaign on a disappointing note after their final league match against Sri Lanka was flooded by rain at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday, October 24. The team failed to win a single match and became the only team in the tournament to finish without a win.
They are currently seventh in the points table with three points and a net rate of -0.58, with all their points coming from suspended matches against Sri Lanka, Australia and England. If Bangladesh beat India in their final match on October 26 in Navi Mumbai, Pakistan will finish at the bottom of the table.
Pakistan vs Sri Lanka, Women’s World Cup highlights
With the match inconsequential, Sri Lanka made two changes, bringing in Dewmi Vihanga for Udeshika Prabodhani, while Pakistan included Syed Aroob Shah and Eyman Fatima in place of Sidra Nawaz and Fatima Sana.
Pakistan’s Women’s World Cup final against Sri Lanka was delayed by rain before officials eventually reduced it to a 34-over match. After Sri Lanka opted to bat first, Omaima Sohail and Muneeba Ali gave Pakistan a steady start.
Omaima hit Sugandika Kumari’s boundary over point and covers, but with Pakistan on 18 for no loss in 4.2 overs, the rain returned. Although play resumed briefly, another heavy downpour forced the referee to call off the match at 20:06 local time.
Sri Lanka ended their campaign with five points and a net rate of -1.035, managing one win from seven matches.
