
At least 19 people were reportedly died after the old residential building collapsed in the district of Karachi in Pakistan on Saturday.
The five -storey building in the Baghdad in Lyari collapsed on Friday.
There are rescue efforts and teams that fear that the victims could further increase when they clean the debris.
According to the authorities, the neighboring building was also damaged during the collapse.
Deputy Commissioner-South Javed Leghari said the rescue teams have so far won 19 bodies, while six injured were treated in the hospital, according to the PTI press agency.
“Unfortunately, the rescue teams that have been working since yesterday afternoon are afraid that there are more bodies under the debris and ruins of the building and the victims will increase,” he added.
Rescue officials said nine individuals, including five women, were rescued in a wounded state and is treated according to Ary News.
Lyari is Karachi one of the most overloaded low -laid and low income.
The old structure was on the list of dilapidated buildings in Stará Karachi.
There were 22 old buildings, of which 16 authorities were released, but six remained occupied by residents who did not want to leave, Leghari said.
Commissioner Karachi Hassan Naqvi, who visited a place after 13 hours, said the primary responsibility for the recent tragedy lies in those who are located in dangerous buildings. He said that the Sindh Authority had previously issued a notice of a collapsed structure.
