
The Padma award is one of the highest Indian civilian awards and recognizes excellent contributions across disciplines such as art, literature, sport, social services, public affairs and more. The awards presented by the Indian President are awarded a ceremonial function in Rashtrapati Bhavan, which usually takes place in March or April every year.
For 2025, the President approved the award of 139 PADMA awards. The awards are awarded in three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. Padma awards and celebrate the remarkable efforts of individuals whose work has brought national and global recognition to India.
Padma Vibhushan:
- Dr. DUVVUR NAGESHWAR REDDY – renowned gastroenterologist from Telangana, Dr. Reddy is recognized as his pioneering contributions to the field of medical research and his significant work in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases.
- Dr. Lakshminarayana Subramaniam – Famous Violinist from Karnataka, Lakshminarayana Subramaniam is honored for his exceptional contribution to Indian classical music and international recognition.
- Shri Mt Vasudevan Nair – Mt Vasudevan Nair is known for her literary works that deeply formed Indian literature and culture, highly respected Malaysian writer from Kerala.
- Shri Osamu Suzuki (posthumous) – former chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Osamu Suzuki, is posthumously honored for his revolutionary work in the automotive industry, which helped transform the global car market.
Padma Bhushan:
- S. Ajith Kumar is Shri S. Ajith Kumar-Slavný actor in the Tamil film industry for his stellar contributions to the Indian film, especially in the Tamil film industry, where he was the main draw of the cash register.
- Shri. Pankaj Udhas – One of the most famous singers Ghazal in India, Pankaj Udhas is recognized as his influence on the music industry and his contribution to maintaining the classic art form of Ghazals alive.
- Shri A. Surya Prakash – Surya Prakash is awarded Padma Bhushan in literature and education, she is an important journalist and academic, known for his pioneering contributions to journalism in Carnation.
- Shri Anant Nag – Anant Nag, a highly recognized figure in art, was awarded the Padma Bhushan for his exceptional work in the Indian film industry, especially in the Kannada cinema.
- Shri Jose Chacko Periappuram – Jose Chacko Periappuram, a leading health care expert, is known for his important contributions to the medical field, especially in Kerala, Padma Bhushan appreciated.
Other important awards include Shri Bibek Debroy, Sadhvi Ritambhara and Shoban Chandrakumar.
Padma Shri:
The Padma Shri category includes 113 recipients who have contributed remarkable contributions in their fields. Some of the prominent award -winning from this category include:
- Shri Arijit Singh – singer playing from West Bengal, Arijit Singh is celebrated for his soulful voice and immense contribution to the Bollywood music industry.
- Shri Hardinder Singh – cricket from Haryana, Hardinder Singh is honored for his consistent contributions to the Indian cricket, especially in domestic cricket.
- Shri Ravichandran Ashwin – Head of cricket, Ravichandran Ashwin is celebrated for his achievements in international cricket, especially as one of the best spinners in the history of the game.
- Shri Ricky Kej – Composer of Environmental Music, Ricky Kej is recognized using music to support environmental awareness and for successful gaining international attention for his efforts.
- Shri Tushar Durgeshbhai Shukla- Padma Shri was awarded the prominent poet Gujarati, author and media personality- for his important contributions to the literature and education of Gujarati.
- Shri Syed Ainul Hasan – a prominent scholar and contemporary vice -chanceder Maulany Azad National Urdu University (Manuu) in Hyderabad. With more than three decades of teaching and research, he significantly contributed to indo-Iran and indo-Afghan relations.
- Shri Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid – a Vedic scholar, awarded for his exceptional work in maintaining and promoting ancient Vedic texts.
Other important awards include SMT. Jumde Yomgam Gamlin, SMT. To Omanakutty Amma, Shri Mahabir Nayak, SMT. Nirmala Devi, Shri Pawan Goenka, among other things.
