Aggrieved farmers staged a rasta roko in Korutla town of Jagtial district on Tuesday, demanding urgent steps to speed up the purchase of paddy fields and curb alleged exploitation by errant millers.
According to sources, farmers from Peddapur and Ramaraopalli villages sat on the highway on the outskirts of Korutla on Tuesday afternoon to protest the alleged delay in procurement of paddy.
Traffic was disrupted for some time due to the road closure.
Angry farmers raised slogans demanding action against the errant millers and sought prompt procurement of rice.
They relented after an assurance from the officials concerned that the matter would be brought to the notice of the district authorities to resolve the rice procurement issues.
