For Havildar Inder Singh, it wasn’t just words, but the foundation he was looking for when he searched for a shooting academy for his daughter Suuruchi Singh in a postpandemic era.
The search led him to Suresh Singh, retired by an army man who ran the guru dronacharya shooting the Academy in Gurogram in Haryana.

Should athletes like Suruchi focus on mental preparation before competitions?

At their first meeting coach Suresh explained one thing:

After two months of just training she entered one match and showed progress.
Then another two months of pure practice, then one more match. “She slowly reached the point where she managed the match once a week,” Suresh reveals.
“Lord I have five minutes before I go inside”
Now, before every match, even during this World Cup ISSF, Suruchi has a ritual: her coach calls.
“She made a video or WhatsApp call before each match. She says,” Lord, I have five minutes before I go in, what do I do? “A quick conversation to her.
“Unless she was at the World Championship today …”
Back home in Jhaijar, if she did not win the medal, she harvested wheat.
“He comes from a humble family. He runs machines at home, helps on the farm. It’s no one to sit.
