All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday campaigned for his party candidates in Nalgonda ahead of the Telangana city civic polls.
Mr. Owaisi, who represents Hyderabad in the Lok Sabha, began his campaign from Basheer Bagh Colony where he interacted with members of the public, party workers and supporters. After traversing the districts, the padyatra ended at Rahmat Nagar.
The Hyderabad MP also condoled with the family of the deceased party worker. It’s the second day of the election campaign.
On Saturday, Mr. Owaisi campaigned for 15 candidates fielded by his party for the Tandur municipality elections. Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Owaisi said the party cadre was delighted with AIMIM’s performance in the Maharashtra civic polls, where workers and legislators campaigned extensively on the ground. Drawing a parallel with cricket, he said, “Elections are like cricket matches. While good performances from the past can be acknowledged, every election is a new match in which to start again.”
