Overnight rain brings down temperatures in Bengaluru, KIA records 94.2 mm

Residents of Bengaluru, who have been witnessing hot and humid weather for the past few weeks, woke up to a rainy Sunday morning.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) data, the city received widespread overnight rainfall, with Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and HAL Airport recording 94.2 mm and 66 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending Sunday, September 20, 2026 at 8:30 AM. Bengaluru city recorded 15.9 mm of rainfall.

The precipitation also lowered the temperature by a few degrees Celsius, which has hovered above 30 °C in recent weeks.

Yellow alert

IMD officials said widespread rains are likely in all districts of Karnataka till September 24.

“All districts of South Interior, North Interior and Coastal Karnataka will experience widespread rainfall till September 24. Bidar, Kalburgi, Yadgir, Vijayapur, Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Shivamogga, Chikkamangaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Bengaluru, Kolar and Chikurupur will receive heavy rain in south Bengal district and heavy rain will be declared,” an IMD CS scientist said He suffered.

The forecast for Bengaluru for the next 24 hours states that it will be generally cloudy with light to moderate rain/showers accompanied by gusty winds of 30-40 kmph. The maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 32°C and 20°C respectively.
