The Telangana State Haj Committee (TGHC) on Wednesday announced that it has received 11,757 applications for Haj Season 2026, out of which 3,453 were selected through lottery.
TGHC Chairman Syed Ghulam Afzal Biyabani said Telangana has been allotted a quota of 4292 seats. While 3,453 applicants were selected in the general category, TGHC received 67 applications collectively from women applicants above 65 years of age, while 45 others applied for the pilgrimage without a mehram (male companion).
“We have cleared 2,848 applicants on the waiting list. Now there are 4,617 applicants on the waiting list. The last date to make the payment of ₹2,77,300 is October 31,” Mr. Biyabani said. “We will take all measures to ensure that pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia are able to fulfill their religious obligations and rituals. We will use past experience to make the next Hajj season a success.”
The process of identifying haj inspectors is ongoing. According to him, those interested should apply by November 3. He emphasized that the position of a forest inspector is associated with responsibility and dereliction of duty will not be tolerated.
