In Cannada, it is a famous saying that if you throw a stone, it lands on the house of an artist or a scholarship in Dharwad, a city in a northern carnation known for its rich cultural and literary heritage.

Among several places of cultural significance is Dharwad the house of the legendary singer and Doyenne from Hindustani classical music Gangubai Hangal, located in Shukrady Pete in the city.

Al-Gengubai moved to Hublille at the age of around 14 to chase classical music Hindustanan since her Guru Sawai Gandarva’s famous reputation in Kundagol, had her children attached to Dharwad’s house.

Music lovers and its family members therefore wanted to transfer the house to the museum to reflect her musical path. It was supposed to serve as a cultural platform for future generations.

The house bought the district administration to restore it as an inheritance building. After the renewal, the then main Minister BS Yediyuppa, along with prominent personalities in the presence of 96 -year -old Gangubai Hangal in 2008, was launched.

After her death in 2009, the house was maintained for several years, but later fell into abuse and neglect. The departments began to blame each other, but are now in a dilapidated state. Despite the renewal assurance, Ben did nothing to fulfill the dreams of musical fraternity. The house, which was a symbol of past glory, now stands as an example of total official apathy.
