Osmania University launches advanced facilities for 24×7 research and digital education
In a bid to strengthen its research, innovation and digital learning ecosystem, Osmania University on Monday inaugurated three state-of-the-art facilities: the Advanced Synthesis Research Laboratory, the Molecular Biology and Cell Culture Laboratory and the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Education.
These facilities are expected to provide enhanced opportunities for faculty members, research staff, students and external research organizations to conduct high-quality research and skill development activities, officials said.
The facility was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Kumar Molugaram along with senior university officials, Registrar G. Naresh Reddy and Officer on Special Duty S. Jithender Kumar Naik.
Emphasizing the importance of research infrastructure development, Mr. Molugaram encouraged the faculty members and researchers to use it effectively for research, innovation and societal applications. The centers must remain open and students must use them 24/7, he said, adding that this is a significant step in the university’s efforts to promote science, innovation and future-ready education.
PTNR-CFRD Director, G. Vijaya Charan said the Advanced Synthesis Research Laboratory is dedicated to the design, synthesis and characterization of new chemical compounds and advanced molecular systems. An investment of around ₹ 42 lakh, under RUSA 2.0, has been made to introduce various instruments in the laboratory.
The Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Cell Culture provides a platform for research into molecular mechanisms, cellular processes, gene expression, biomolecules and cellular responses. About ₹ 52 crore has been invested in setting up the laboratory under this programme.
Center for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Education integrating artificial intelligence and digital technologies in education and research. The center is designed to support artificial intelligence applications, data-driven research, digital learning, data analytics and technology-based education that facilitates training programmes, workshops, faculty development, student skill development initiatives, research support and data analytics. Around ₹81 crore has been invested in 50 state-of-the-art systems and software including SPSS, Molecular Solution and ArcGIS.
