The Oscar Piastri managed a calm and controlled race to win the Dutch Grand Prix on Sunday, while Lando Norris’s teammate saw that his chances of Formula 1’s title were damaged after his car had disintegrated.
Norris chased Piastriho in the final stages when he noticed a “funny” odor in his McLaren. A moment later, smoke came from the back of his car and he had to stop on the track side.
“I don’t know if I’m on a fire or not,” Norris told his team over the radio. Then he climbed out of the car and stood with the marshals and watched the race to slip. His engineer appreciated his pace, but the frustrated Norris replied, “No matter.” That was his second retirement of the season after a crash with Piastri in Canada.
The incident brought health from the Dutch crowd as Max Verstappen moved to second place At his home race. Behind him, Isack Hadjar from Racing Bulls declared his first Formula 1 stage in third place. The 19 -year -old Frenchman was raised from the country by celebrating team members after giving his team the first three years in four years.
“That was always the goal because I was a child, so that’s the first step,” Hadjar said.
Meanwhile, Piastri had to stay calm through three restarting safety cars. He stayed twice before Norris and then postponed Verstappen after Norris’s departure. The Australian victory stretches his lead in the ranking from nine points to 34 and there are nine races.
“Nice, everyone, pretty done,” Piastri told his team. “Obviously, I’m sorry Landa for what happened.”
Ferrari will collapse again
It was another poor day for Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton lost control under wet conditions and hit the barrier. Later Charles Leclerc was eliminated from the race, when he was hit by newcomer Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes and sent him to the same wall.
George Russell took the fourth to Mercedes, despite the previous clash with Leclerc, which the administrators will look at. Williams driver Alex Albon came fifth, while Haas Youngster Oliver Bearman scored the sixth best career. Aston Martin Pair Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso finished seventh and eighth, Yuki Tsunoda was ninth for Red Bull and Esteban Ocon took the last point in the tenth.
