According to data from the National Organization for Body Transplantation (Notto), Karnataka is the fourth in terms of authorities in the country.
From April 17th, while Karnataka has not yet registered 35,920 promises, Mahashtra has the highest with 50,886 registrations. Rajasthan and Gujarat follow with 43 376 and 36 550 registrations.
Among the Dharwad districts, the highest number of promises with 8,196 registrations has so far recorded. Dharwad is followed by Ballari (8 095). These two districts recorded the second and third highest promises in the country after Ahmedabad, which recorded the highest for 29,763 promises.
The highest youth registration
The highest promises were recorded in the 30-45 age group, with 16,045 persons in this age group committed their authorities. This is followed by people in the age group 18-30 years with 8,423 registrations.
Women exceeded men in organs, with 18 655 out of a total of 35,920 registrations come from women.
QR code
In order to promise the donation of organs in Karnataka, people can use the Notto QR code, which is associated with the initiative of the state health department to simplify the process. This QR code, which was launched in 2023, can be found on the Notto website, or Jeevasarthakathe, a state organization for transplantation of body and tissues (SOTTO), node agencies that facilitate corpse authorities.
Rajani M., the State Joint Director (Medical), said that after the introduction of the QR Code and the campaign launched by the Ministry of Health last year, the authorities increased to support the promise.
“People can use a QR code reader on their smartphones or other code scanning devices and filling in the promise form. After successful registration of the collateral, a person will receive a donor card with a unique registration number. We work with all hospitals to encourage promise,” she said.
Organ gifts
When this year is taken into account, Karnataka recorded 63 gifts of organs until April 17th. Over the last three consecutive years, he has recorded more than 150 gifts a year. This year, while Tamil Nadu has noticed the highest gifts at 74, Telangana has 64 gifts.
Less than 5% turns into gifts
Although the number of people promised by organs is growing, nor 5% of them will not actually change to the donor. Naushad Pasha, the main coordinator of transplantation in Jeevasarthakathe/Sotto, said that out of a total of 1,155 gifts of organs in Karnataka (since 2007), a maximum of 15 gifts come from those who promised organs.
On the basis of reasons, he has ever said that the identified donor is not eligible to donate for clinical reasons. “Or someone from a donor family/distant family/friends circle says that not a gift in organs and other relatives should not say much in deciding against the wishes of those opposing it. Most of the time the family is not aware of the organs,” Pasha said, adding that it is important for people to keep their families in loop.
