
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of widespread thunderstorm activity across India, mainly due to fresh western disturbances in northwest and central regions. Hence, temperatures across India are expected to remain normal to below normal throughout the week. “No heat wave”.
The meteorological agency has predicted that heavy rainfall is likely to continue over the northeastern cities of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir on March 19 and 20.
He also predicted isolated hail activity over Himachal Pradesh on March 18 and 19. Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Rajasthan are also likely to experience hail from March 19-20.
Over central India, IMD has forecast isolated thunderstorm activity accompanied by gusty winds till 21 March along with hail over Chhattisgarh during 18 and 19 March; Vidarbha on March 18; Madhya Pradesh on March 20; West Bengal, Sikkim and Odisha during March 20 and 21.

Shimla weather
The Regional Meteorological Center has issued an orange alert for hailstorm in isolated areas of Shimla for Wednesday and Thursday, March 18-19. The Meteorological Agency has also issued a yellow warning for heavy rain and snow in Shimla on Friday 20.
Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40-60 kmph are likely in Shimla, Solan and surrounding areas from Wednesday to Friday.
An orange hail warning was also issued for two other districts of Himachal Pradesh – Kullu and Mandi – on Wednesday and Thursday. While yellow warning of heavy rain and snow is in force for isolated places in Chamba, Kangra and Kullu districts on Thursday and Friday.
Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Sirmaur and Mandi areas will also witness thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.
Lahaul and Spiti, Kullu, Chamba and Kinnaur districts have been witnessing snowfall since Monday evening.

Weather in Chandigarh
Chandigarh, a city in the foothills of Himachal Pradesh, also witnessed a sudden drop in temperature since Monday. The meteorological agency has predicted isolated hailstorms in the city on March 19-20.
Delhi weather forecast
The Met department has predicted thunderstorms and rainfall in Delhi from March 18 to 20.
Hail is also expected in isolated pockets. The intensity and spread of precipitation is likely to be higher on March 20 due to a western disturbance.
According to a PTI report quoting experts, conditions are favorable for dust storms and thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall from Wednesday.

Hyderabad weather
The IMD has predicted isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with thundershowers, lightning and gusty winds of 30 to 50 kmph over Telangana from March 18 to 21.
The regional Met department on Wednesday issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds at isolated places in Hyderabad and all other districts of Telangana. It said the weather conditions are likely to remain the same till March 23.
On March 18, the Meteorological Agency has predicted partly clear skies with light to moderate rain in the evening or night in Hyderabad. The maximum and minimum temperatures in the city are expected to hover around 35 degrees C and 20 degrees C respectively.
The Meteorological Agency has also predicted a gradual drop in the maximum temperature over Hyderabad by 2-4 degrees C in the next 2 days.
