M. Maheshwar Rao, chief commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), has directed officials to explore the possibility of converting Madiwala Lake into a tourist attraction.
Mr. Rao told South City Corporation officials to look into the possibility of re-starting the lake cruise that was in operation earlier.
Madiwala Lake is undergoing development at a cost of ₹15 crore, with works such as footpaths, culverts, playgrounds, street lights, toilets and bridge construction underway. A bridge is proposed on the dam road to Madiwala lake to facilitate vehicular movement near the bus stand. Mr. Rao directed the officials to speed up all the works.
