Nature has again proven itself as a disguise master. The picture that captures the ring chicken perfectly masked against the rocky coast, became viral and left countless viewers confused. At first glance, the scene seems to be nothing but the stain of the earth scattered stones and pebbles – but hidden in sight is a small girl who is almost impossible to reveal.
This fascinating photograph taken along the coastal nesting area shows an incredible evolutionary defense mechanism of the Ringed Plover. The feather chick is so well adapted to its surroundings that it is virtually invisible to predators – and for us. Chick cries low and completely, creating a strong optical illusion that is confused even by those observers about eagles with eyes.
Social media users spent minutes, sometimes much longer, trying to find an elusive bird. Many of them admitted defeat, convinced that photography was a trick. However, we assure you that the chick is there – perfectly masked and proving how smart nature can be.
SPOILER CAUTION – Solution below:
If you want to locate the chicken, look at the left of the center of the picture. You will notice a fine round shape with a small dark eye and a pale beak. The chicken points forward and interferes firmly into the ground and its color mimics the ground and pebbles around it.
Did you find it yourself? If not, don’t worry – you’re in a good company!
