On Tuesday (July 1, 2025), the Indian Election Commission stated that a meeting scheduled for 2 July with opposition parties on the disputed special intensive revision (Sir) of electoral roles in Bihar was postponed because the parties did not provide confirmation.
The ES sources said the Commission received E -mail on June 30 from Congress’s lawyer and was looking for an urgent appointment with the vote body on July 2 on Sir on behalf of many political parties.
Sources stated that he (legal advisor) was represented as a delegation advisor with multiple parties.
The vote body set 2 July 17 hours for a meeting and sought confirmation of these political parties.
The letters to the parties
In separate letters to the parties, including Congress, CPI (ML), RJD, Congress Trinamool, JMM, SP and other parties of the Indian block, EC confirmed the time and date and asked for the name of the representative by the party.
However, the Commission has not yet received any confirmation and therefore the meeting had to be postponed on July, the sources said.
Opposition parties led by Congress opposed Sir that this would lead to a large number of people in the state.
The head of the Digvijaya Singh Congress said on Sunday (June 29, 2025) that all Indian block components could knock on the judiciary’s door against the ongoing Sir unless the EC accepts the parties against the parties.
“I repeat that the drive is an attempt to pull out the voting rights of people in Bihar in large numbers, especially the poor, farmers, workers, socially marginalized and oppressed class by causing them to be eligible to vote.
Mr. Singh accused the NDA government in the center to try to erase the names of the poor and marginalized voters from the election roles through Sir.
