A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi called critical opposition leaders “naraaz fufa (angry uncle), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Nabin on Sunday (September 6, 2026) said the prime minister had hit the nail on the head in his characterization of politicians focused on their “every vested interest” who get angry when angry when India is making progress.

The prime minister used the phrase to attack opposition leaders during an address to youth at Shri Ram College of Commerce in Delhi on Saturday (September 5, 2026). A day later, Mr Nabin doubled down in a video message posted on Facebook.

“There are people who remain dissatisfied within family and society and can never move forward or think in any positive direction. They were exactly the kind of people Modi Ji called ‘naraaz fufa,'” Mr Nabin said in his two-and-a-half-minute video message.

Questions The anger of the opposition

“I want to ask the opposition today, when India is developing, why are they angry? When India abrogates Article 370 and hoists the tricolor at Lal Chowk in Kashmir, why are they angry? Today, when Naxalism is completely uprooted, why are they angry?” he asked. “With the slogan under which they stayed in power for so many years, today when that slogan has actually been fulfilled and 25 million poor families have been brought out of poverty by Modi Ji, they are angry about this too,” he added.

Without naming anyone, Mr Nabin explained that the opposition leaders could not bear India’s development, heritage and culture moving forward.

Personal interest, prestige

“Because they remain completely hidden in personal interests and personal prestige. The situation of ‘naraaz fufa’ in the family has become the situation of opposition in India today. I want to make it clear that Modi Ji’s vision is to fulfill the dream of Viksit Bharat by 2047 and with this dream 140 million Indians have set out today,” he said.

No matter how much anger or opposition comes from the political opposition, India’s development will not stop and along with its 140 million countrymen, the vision of a developed India will be fulfilled, he added.

Earlier in the day, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi criticized Mr Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary over the heavy-handed police action against protesting students in Bihar.
