Opposition parties on Thursday (1 May 2025) criticized the claims of the main Minister Dendra Fadnavis about the progress of the state under the government of Mahayuti and pointed to the increase in the suicide of farmers and perceived lack of substantial measures to solve rural anxiety.
Criticism came in response to a 100 -day report on the performance of the main minister, which was published on the occasion of Maharashtra Day. Mr. Fadnavis claimed that the government has made significant administrative progress since receiving the office in December 2024. According to a report reportedly evaluating the Indian quality council, 12 of the 48 departments reached in full in the period from December 2024 to March 2025.
However, the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT) and the opposition leader in the legislative council of Maharashtra Danve rejected this report as “cosmetic” and claimed that he could not recognize ground reality, especially in rural regions.
The addressing of reporters in ChhatraPati Sambhajinagar said: “The real benefit of the Mahayuti government in these 100 days was an increase in financial burden through the populist evaluation focused on elections and a disturbing increase in agricultural suicide.
Danve, who quoted official data from the Office of the Division Commissioner, noted that 269 suicides of farmers were reported in the Marathwada region from January to March 2025, a significant increase in 204 cases reported during the corresponding period last year. The affected districts include the CHHhatApati Sambhajinagar, Dharashiv, Latur, Beed, Nanded, Hingoli, Parbhani and Jalna.
Mr. Danve also criticized what the government’s reliance on “dividing rhetoric and political theaters”. Referring to the recent murder of Beed Sarpanch Santosh Dehmukh claimed that political discourse degenerated in the use of terms such as “Aaka, Bada aaka, hockey and khocya”. “Meanwhile,” he added, “budget cuts in social care programs for students and farmers and key promises such as loan exceptions remain unfulfilled”.
According to the government report, 12 departments achieved 100% of its goals within a 100 -day program, while 18 departments scored between 80 and 99%. Ten departments registered performance between 60 and 79% and the remaining eight achieved a score below 60%.
“Over the last 100 days, all 48 departments have been introduced by a time-bound action plan. Of the 902 strategic objectives set out, 706-or not 78%were fully met-” the Chief Minister said in a statement. “I expand the sincere recognition of the department for their devoted efforts.”
