‘Operation Toofan’: four held on suspicion of MDMA in Kannur

Police stepped up drug enforcement under ‘Operation Toofan’ and arrested four persons with more than 16 grams of suspected MDMA in Kathiroor.

Those arrested are N. Jamsheer (21), KV Sahir (38), Tanveer (35) and Rene Oliver (46).

The arrests came during intensified checks across Kannur city police lines as part of a nationwide anti-drug campaign. Acting on a tip-off, a police team from Kathiroor intercepted and searched the car parked on the roadside, which led to the seizure of the contraband.

In a separate operation, the Payyannur police seized 5.77 grams of suspected cannabis from an astrology center near the old bus stand in Payyannur and registered a case under the Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against its owner PS Sreenath, 40.
