
The Ernakulam wing of the Vigilance and the Anti -Royal Office (VACB) has expanded its supervision over allegedly corrupt government officials based on the “Operation Spot Trap” list.
The aim of the national intervention is to catch such red officials when they accept bribes for offering various public services. Swapna A., Building Inspector at Kochi Corporation Zonal Office, which was arrested on Wednesday (April 30), while on Wednesday (April 30) it reportedly received a bribe of 15,000 GBP from the builder.
“VACB has prepared a list on the basis of complaints received from the public and subsequent investigations carried out by officials,” said S. Sasidharan, police manager, Vacb Ernakulam Unit.
According to the government estimates, approximately 700 corrupt officials in the State List prepared within the Trap Properation Spot Trap project. Some of them have already been arrested and measures have been initiated against them on the basis of an agency’s investigation.
Mr. Sasidharan said that it was under investigation to confirm whether other officials in the zonal office of the civil body agreed with Swapná to carry out similar unlawful activities. He added that there is a formula of corrupt officials in movements. In the case of a woman arrested from Ponnurunni, she demanded a bribe by claiming that there was a violation during the construction of a multi -storey building. Initially, she demanded 5,000 GBP for allocating the building number, he said.
Mr. Sasidharan urged the public to reveal corrupt officials by filing complaints to VACB. He said that strict steps would be taken against these officials.
