Cyberabad Police has launched Operation Smile–XII, a month-long drive to trace missing children and rescue vulnerable minors across the authority.
The initiative, which started on January 1, will continue until January 30. Addressing officials, Police, Women and Child Security Wing Srujana Karnam said the operation is aimed at identifying missing children and rescuing minors who were involved in begging, rag-picking, child labor and human trafficking, and to ensure rehabilitation and reintegration of children through coordinated efforts with various government departments and voluntary organizations.
Under Operation Smile–XII, 12 special teams were formed, each headed by a sub-inspector and supported by four police constables, including one woman. These teams will conduct systematic field operations at identified vulnerable locations across the Cyberabad Commissionerate.
The police will also use facial recognition technology through Darpan mobile app to trace the missing children and connect them with their families, the DCP said.
Among those present were W&CSW ACP S. Krishna Prasad, Child Welfare Committee members from Ranga Reddy, Medchal and Sangareddy districts; representatives of Bala Raksha Bhavan and Voluntary Association, officials from labor and health departments, district child welfare officers and members of the anti-trafficking unit along with other officials.
