Openai shared the benchmark scores of the O3 series of artificial intelligence (AI) models on Friday. As the successor to the recently released O1 series of AI models, the company claims that O3 significantly outweighs the features of the older version. The series has two models, the O3 and the O3 Mini, and focuses on tasks based on advanced reasoning. Currently, an AI model is being provided for public safety testing, and the O3-MINI model will be launched in the public domain early next year. It is worth noting that OpenAI’s announcement comes a few days after Google released its Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinky Mode AI model.

On the 12th day of the AI company’s 12-day shipping plan, Openai announced the O3 series of O3 AI models. During the live broadcast, CEO Sam Altman stressed that O2’s name was removed due to Telefonica, a British telecom service provider that uses the same brand name.
Openai stressed that despite the announcement, these models will be available in the public domain at present. The company has begun offering O3 and O3-Mini to early access to selected external researchers for public safety testing. Those interested in participating in the process can apply here. The application process will end on January 10.
The company stressed that the O3 series AI model will be more powerful than its predecessors and will be able to perform more complex tasks in coding, math and natural language processing. However, its full functionality has not been disclosed.
In addition, OpenAI shared some benchmark evaluations of the O3 AI model during internal testing. The company claims O3 scored 71.7% in SWE-Benchmark and scored 96.7% in AIME 2024 Benchmark, surpassing O1. However, a complete benchmark evaluation can only be performed once the model is available in the public domain. O3-Mini is expected to be launched in January 2025.
Openai provides unlimited access to Sora to paid subscribers
Additionally, as a “day 13 bonus,” Altman announced in an X (formerly known as Twitter) post that Chatgpt Plus and Teams subscribers will have unlimited access to Sora for the last two weeks of December. The CEO stressed that this is possible because the offices are closed during Christmas, resulting in reduced server load.
OpenAI’s product owner Rohan Sahai added the post and said the company has upgraded Sora’s Blend feature and enabled sharing links to let users share AI-generated videos with friends, even if they don’t have an account.
