OpenAI CEO Sam Altman made several announcements for ChatGpt users on Sunday. The O3 series of artificial intelligence (AI) models were released as a research preview in December 2024 and will now witness its first global release. Altman said the O3-Mini AI model will be launched to paid subscribers and subscribers to their platform’s free layer. In addition, the CEO also revealed that the recently released AI agent operator will be available to Chatgpt Plus users soon.
Openai releases the first O3 AI model
In a post by X (formerly known as Twitter), Altman revealed that the reasoning-focused large language model (LLM) series O3 will be available to paid users as well as paid users at the free-level of its AI Chatbot. It is worth noting that O3 is the successor to the company’s O1 series model.
Openai has launched the O3 series consisting of O3 and O3 Minni in a Christmas-style 12-day shipping program in December. At the time, AI companies said that the new AI model would provide better performance than its predecessors and be able to accomplish more complex tasks in coding, math and natural language processing. However, its full functionality and benchmark evaluation have not been disclosed.
Altman now stresses that while there may be high limits, the free chatgpt Free Tier will also access the O3 Mini model. For example, the O1 model on the free layer provides five queries per day. Meanwhile, OpenAI CEO revealed that plus subscribers will get 100 queries with O3-Mini every day.
In addition to Altman, Altman has made several announcements for Chatgpt Plus subscribers. First, OpenAI will soon introduce its operator AI agent to paid subscribers. The agent is currently available as a professional US subscriber for research previews. It can perform tasks online independently according to the prompts given by the user, and can be used to book tickets online, book tables at restaurants, or purchase products online.
Chatgpt Plus users also promised that the company will offer them the next AI agent on the first day of its launch. This is not the case with the operator, which is launched only for professional subscribers.
It is worth noting that Altman also emphasized that Pro users will get an enhanced version of the O3 series model in the coming days.
