Due to multiple delay in expanding trains and final security check -in, the line did not become functional and called on criticism and protest.
Public frustration was cooked, while citizens and even elected representatives openly expressed their displeasure as one of the most important projects of Namma Metro, a yellow line, facing further postponement.
The highly anticipated corridor, which connects RV Road with Bommasandra through the Electronics City Technology Center, remains unopened, although civil work has been completed to a large extent. This section is of strategic importance for the southern zones of Bengaluru, especially for thousands of IT experts who commute to AZ electronics daily. Nevertheless, due to multiple delays in the expansion of trains and final security reviews, it will not become functional, which should cause criticism and protest.
Lack of sufficient trains
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has repeatedly moved the deadlines, resulting in a complete erosion of public trust. “We no longer believe in any timeline they score. They moved the goal so many times that people have stopped making plans around him. It is disappointing as such an important traffic project can be delayed without responsibility,” said Ashwin Hegde, resident of Bomanahali.
Poornima Murty, a software engineer working in Electronics City, said, “I was really enthusiastic about using the yellow line, because the BTM layout is just five minutes walk from my home. I have been waiting for years, but nothing has happened.
According to BMRCL, the primary roadblock, the lack of sufficient trains for the operation of the corridor. Officials stated that they were trying to obtain permission from the Commissioner for Safety Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) to July in order to start commercial operations by the end of July or on the first of August, using only three available trains.
Coach Offer Agreement
The source of the delay lies in the contract for the supply of coach granted to the Chinese company CRRC in 2019. The contract of 1,578 GBP required CRRC to supply 216 trainers and establish a manufacturing unit in India. However, the company did not fulfill this situation and seriously disrupted the project timeline. BMRCL reportedly issued CRRC notifications and even considered calling the 372 GBP bank guarantee due to non -compliance.
To save this situation, CRRC has associated with Titagarh Rail Systems Limited based in Calcutta. While this cooperation helped to restore supplies, pending and logistics challenges continued to slow down progress. As a result, only two sets of trains were available for test runs, which started on 7 March 2024.
Tejasvi Surya on protest
Meanwhile, the delay caused Bengaluuu South MP Tejasvi Surya to call for a public protest. “Join a large number at 9:30 on Saturday in Lalbagag Main Gate when we march to the BMRCL headquarters in Shantinagar and ask.
He also added: “The yellow boundary between RV Road and Bommasandra still does not work, although BMRCL is missing for several terms, the Benglanecs still face everyday traffic, especially that it’s in the passage is, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s, it’s It is not, that is that it is, that it is, that it is in the passage.
