Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE), Mysuru, on Sunday organized ‘Open Day 2026’, which provided aspiring engineering students and parents an opportunity to explore academic excellence, innovation and career opportunities in engineering education.
The statement said that VVCE President Gundappa Gowda; Secretary P. Vishwanath; Associate Vice President, Infosys Ltd Mysuru, Sundar KS; VVCE Graduate and Chief Engineer Kyrosemi, Bengaluru, Ravindra V., CET Expert and Principal, Maharaja Government PU College, Mysuru Uday Shankar; VVCE Director B. Sadashive Gowda; VVCE Vice Principal Shobha Shankar and Dean Academic Affairs (First Year) GV Naveen Prakash.
Addressing the gathering, VVCE Director Mr. Gowda highlighted the institution’s academic and research achievements and said it ranked first in Mysuru city in faculty paper publications, 9th in Karnataka and among the top 300 institutions in the country. He guided parents and students in choosing the right engineering school by considering factors such as affordability, experienced teachers, infrastructure, centers of excellence, sports facilities, reputation, accreditation and co-curricular activities.
He also mentioned that VVCE awarded scholarships worth ₹1.08 crore to deserving students and highlighted the institution’s commitment to holistic development of students. Highlighting the strong industry-academia linkages, Mr. Gowda said there are several companies operating on the VVCE campus with which students are already working.
On the occasion, Mr. Sundar highlighted the importance of engineering in a technology-driven world and encouraged the students to become effective problem solvers and partners for business transformation. He emphasized that technology must be integrated with engineering and business knowledge. He highlighted the impact of artificial intelligence and advised students to keep upskilling to stay relevant in the evolving industry.
During the interactive session, Mr. Ravindra spoke about the opportunities in Electronics and Communication (E&C) Engineering, citing its strong industrial connectivity and flexibility in interdisciplinary projects. Mr. Shankar guided the students and parents through the CET counseling process and informed admission decision making.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, parents, faculty members and alumni, with departments showcasing projects, labs and innovations.
