The Chief of the Aviation Staff, the Chief of Air Marshal AP Singh, on August 26 emphasized the importance of synergy between the Indian armed forces and said that the Sindoor operation showed how three-services could be cohesive without needing major structural changes.
“Sindoor operations are a perfect example that we can work together. Yes, what we need is a joint planning and coordination center in Delhi,” Singh said, talking to the Army War University in MHOW as part of the “Samvad Ran” series.
The head of IAF spoke to the gen LT gene Raj Shhukla on the “Fireside Chat”, which was attended by veterans, officers and media representatives. He shared his views on the structure of strength, command and evolving the nature of the modern war.
“Air Force has taken over the primary role in the war”
“Until now, it has been believed that the deployment of the Air Force in any conflict was an escalation of the situation. But today the Air Force has taken over the primary role in the war. Now we employ air force offensively and this role will continue to expand,” IAF said.
“We must be ready for tomorrow. Sindoor operations took us from learning for readiness,” he said.
Singh also noted that while technology has become a central point for modern warfare, it should not be the only focus. “The production of drones is not enough. We also have to focus on other domains. But we have to remember that we have always relied on a man in the cockpit,” he said.
“Setting clear goals in conflict”
The IAF chief, who quoted lessons from the Sindoor operation, emphasized the importance of setting clear objectives in the conflict. “In any war, the mission selection is critical. You need to know where to stop as soon as the goal is achieved. Why should we continue behind this point?”
“We used to say that we are loving peace, we can’t be offensive. But now time has changed.”
Sindoor operation is a perfect example that we can work strongly.
The “Ran Samwad 2025” inauguration Day represented higher officials from the army, the Navy and the Air Force, who analyzed global conflicts and discussed the future Indian approach to warfare. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled for the Tri-Services conference, the second day of the event, today.
