The ONS JABEUR, a pioneering tunisian tennis star and the triple finalist Grand Slam, announced a break from professional tennis to prefer her mental and physical well -being. In a sincere contribution to social media on Thursday, the thirty -year -old said she hadn’t felt “really happy in court” for some time and now she wants to “rediscover the joy of simply life”.
“I have been pushing myself so hard in the last two years, fighting for injuries and facing many other challenges,” Jabeur wrote in his statement shared on Instagram and X. “But deep down, I haven’t felt happy for some time.
Jabeur’s announcement is followed by a difficult run of form and recurring injuries. As soon as the number 2 was included in the WTA ranking, it has now slipped to the number 71. Her season 2024 was disturbed by the shoulder injury and she played only once after Wimbledon. Last time she was forced to retire in the first round of this year’s All England Club Championship and could not continue against Viktoriya Tomor after a lengthy medical time limit.
Jabeur was often referred to as the “Minister of Happiness” for her cheerful behavior and positive energy, and was an extremely popular figure on the tour. She did a history by becoming the first Arab woman to achieve the Grand Slam final, and in 2022 and 2023 completed the finalist in Wimbledon, as well as the US Open in 2022.
Despite her struggle in matters, Jabeur remains widely admired for her art, courage and authenticity. In her report, she expressed gratitude to the fans for their unwavering support.
“Thank you all my fans for your understanding. Your support and love mean the world to me. I always carry it with me,” she wrote. “Although I am out of court, I will continue to stay close and connected in different ways and share this path with all of you.”
Jabeur, who previously spoke about her desire to establish a family with her husband and coach Fitness Kari Kamoun, did not indicate how long her break would take.
Jabeur’s absence will certainly be felt, but its decision will serve as a poignant reminder of the importance of joy, balance and care of themselves in elite sport.
