The BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit has released a ‘report card’ on the DMK government’s five-year rule on electoral promises made by the ruling party ahead of the 2021 assembly elections, claiming that it has fulfilled only 31.6% of its assurances.
BJP State Vice President RN Jayaprakash said DMK has made 505 promises in its 2021 election manifesto. Of these, only 160 were fulfilled. The remaining 345 promises were yet to be implemented. In contrast, the DMK falsely claimed to have fulfilled 99% of its election promises, he claimed.
He also said that the government had failed on several fronts which included governance, infrastructure development, health, environmental protection, water management, transport, welfare of fishermen, agriculture and animal husbandry.
He also called on members of the ruling party to hold a public debate on the number of election promises fulfilled in the last five years.
