Three men from Andhra Pradesh have been arrested by the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police for facilitating large-scale online investment scams targeting unsuspecting victims across India.
The accused have been identified as Madathala Ramesh Reddy (25), Gandi Srinu (31) and Gurrapūkonda Sridhar (43). They were arrested in connection with three separate cases registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Hyderabad.
Police said the trio provided access to their bank accounts to organized cybercriminal networks, which circulated fake investment schemes through WhatsApp and Telegram groups. Victims were lured into groups where they were persuaded to invest in fraudulent stock and crypto trading platforms such as the SMC STK Trading App and the valiantcapital app.
According to investigators, victims shelled out large sums, trusted the supposed advisers, only to later find that the withdrawals had been blocked and their money gone. The total losses in the three cases were estimated at more than ₹59 million.
Police said all three accused acted as middlemen for cyber crime syndicates by opening bank accounts and selling access details to fraudsters for a commission.
Police urged the public to be wary of investment offers shared via WhatsApp or Telegram, especially from unknown numbers. They advised citizens to check all platforms through SEBI’s official website before investing and avoid schemes that promise unrealistic profits.
