Institute of speech and hearing all India (Aiish) on Wednesday watched World Autism Day by organizing a seminar for teachers’ training called “Strengthening teachers in identification, social, behavioral and communication interventions of autism spectrum disorders (ASD)”.
The workshop, which took place in cooperation with the Ministry of Clinical Psychology, meant the beginning of the monthly series of events in the month of awareness of autism. The aim of this initiative is to raise awareness and equip teachers with the necessary skills to support children with ASD and to support a more inclusive and compassion for society.
Vikas TRIVEDI, members of the Indian Council of the Rehabilitation Council in Nový Delhi, stressed that one of 68 children in India is diagnosed with ASD, Vikas Trivedi. Given the differences in brain development, these children face challenges in social communication and interaction, which often leads to discrimination and stigma in schools.
Dr. Rushi, professor and leader, Department of Clinical Psychology, Aiish, emphasized the key role of teachers in the identification and solution of social, behavioral and communication difficulties in children with ASD. It emphasized the need for their integration into the educational system, promoted inclusivity and celebrated diversity.
M. Pushpavathi, Director, Aiish, emphasized the importance of early identification and intervention. She emphasized AiIShov’s efforts to seize parents and carers and train children with special needs to move to main education.
Mr. Trivedi appreciated the innovative Aiish services and proposed to set up more such institutions across the country to support children with ASD.
Jayashree was also present, the head of the speech pathology department (SLP) and the chairman of the Autism unit, along with other members and participants of the faculty.
The workshop served as an important step in spreading awareness and strengthening the capacity of teachers to support children with ASD for their inclusive future.
