
Aamir Khan opened up about one of his last memories with veteran actor Dharmendra, who passed away on November 24. Speaking at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Aamir revealed that Dharmendra had a chance to watch Lahore 1947 – Sunny Deol’s upcoming film – before his demise, calling it a deeply horrifying heescher moment.
Aamir, who produced the film, said he was grateful to spend time with the legendary actor in his senior year. “I was lucky enough to show him the film. It’s not out yet, of course. But I’m so glad he saw it because it was one of his favorite scripts,” he said during an interview with the panel.
Dharmendra’s love for the story goes back years, Aamir added, which made the experience even more special. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Lahore 1947 is based on Asghar Wajahat’s acclaimed play Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, O Jamyai Ni.

Aamir also expressed regret that he could not attend Dharmendra’s prayer meeting in Mumbai on November 27. “Unfortunately I am not in Mumbai today and I miss it,” he said.
He remembered seeing Dharmendra a lot in the last year, simply because he liked his company. “I got to meet him 7-8 times. I even took my son Azad with me one day. He didn’t actually see Dharam’s work, but we spent a few hours with him. It was amazing,” added Aamir.
Calling him a warm-hearted and remarkable person who transcended his illustrious career, Aamir said, “Dharam ji was not just a great actor but a great human being.
About Lahore 1947
Set against the backdrop of Partition, the film follows a Muslim family who relocates from Lucknow to Lahore and is allotted a haveli abandoned by a Hindu family. However, their lives become chaotic when they discover that the former residents are still living inside – unwilling to leave.
Starring Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta, Lahore 1947 also stars Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Karan Deol.
The film marks a major collaboration between Aamir Khan Productions and Rajkumar Santoshi, adding to the anticipation surrounding its release.
